As a part of its process of planning for the future, Catalina Island Medical Center has developed an overall strategic plan as well as a plan for its information technology infrastructure. Patients, employees and community members were involved in both of these processes, which were completed in 2007.

Catalina Island Medical Center's strategic plan was facilitated by MJ Philps & Associates and was funded by a grant from the Office of State Rural Health. Its IT strategic blueprint was facilitated by Outlook Associates and was also funded by a grant from the Office of State Rural Health.
